Vibrant Vase
A wool applique wall hanging
Size: 16” x 20”
This small wall hanging uses wool or felted wool (not wool felt) to create the vase and
flowers which are edged with a variety of decorative hand embroidered stitches using
#8 Eleganza thread.
Supplies
Centre block:
1 fat quarter for the background
A variety of pieces of wool or felted wool ( not wool felt) for the vase and flowers.
Inner borders:
4 1¼” strips at least 12” long
4 2” strips at least 14” long
4 1¼” squares
4 2” squares
Outer Border
14 dark 3” squares
14 light/medium 3” squares
4 2½” squares
Threads:
#8 Eleganza thread to match the wool
Regular sewing thread to match the wool pieces.
Out of Hand is the best store in Calgary to get both the wool and the thread. They also
have scrap bags of small pieces of wool which will work for this project. If you are
buying larger pieces you might want to share with another student to save some money.
